Hello, I arrived at Point No Point this morning at around 0830 and found
several birders already on the scene. I set up my scope aside Sir Bill
Shelmerdine and within 10 minutes had located the murre. For the next hour
or so (until I left) the bird was regularly, though intermittantly sighted
as it moved further and further offshore. As one walks out to the
lighthouse, the bird was essentially straight ahead; sometimes moving
quickly left, other times quickly to the right. I tried for pics; a no go
for me. Thanks Brad for getting those images!
The Eared Grebe is still poking around close to shore and there were
multiple Ancient Murrelets and Pacific Loons amongst the other species.
Tomorrow I am off to the Congaree in South Carolina for another 2 week
Ivory-billed Woodpecker search with the Nature Conservancy. Please try to
keep mega-rarities to a minimum while I'm gone :o) Thanks!
