Sixteen birders went on an East Lake WA Audubon Society field trip along the West Seattle shoreline from Salty's Restaurant to Lincoln Park. It was a very nice morning, partly cloudy, slight breeze on the west side and 40-45. We ended up with a total of 30 species. Highlights included:

Bald Eagle - 1 perched in a tree near the nest across from Salty's parking lot. We saw three more during the morning.
Horned, Western and Red-necked Grebes were numerous.
Pelagic Cormorant - one perched on rocks near apartments on west side. There were many Double-crested.
Brant - a few on west side
Harlequin Ducks - a number of males and females - we never tire of seeing these beautiful birds
Black Scoter - about 3 females were seen - Surf Scoters were numerous.
Barrow's Goldeneye - most we have seen on this trip - two groups of at least 20-25
Common Goldeneye - very few isolated birds
Bufflehead - numerous
Black Turnstones - we saw two groups of 6-8 in the rocks on the east and north sides of the shoreline.
Brown Creeper - one in Lincoln Park
Bewick's Wren - one in Lincoln Park
Golden-crowned Kinglets - one group of about six in low bushes in Lincoln Park, displaying their golden crowns in excellent close looks.
