Dear Tweeters,

Today I saw a female goldeneye, Barrow's I believe, in
the lower Baker River in Concrete. The bird had an
aluminum leg band. Very striking indeed was another
marker born by this bird, a pair of whitish-yellow
triangles affixed to its bill! Is this an attempt to
stop snoring in goldeneyes, or is it some sort of
identifier, akin to color-banding?

Yours truly,

Gary Bletsch
