Hi all,

Saturday midday I drove through several areas of the Snoqualmie Valley and had a nice birdy trip. The highlights were a lone young SNOW GOOSE in with a flock of several hundred Canadas and Cacklers on the large field at Carnation Farm. It stood out like the proverbial sore thumb. This is the first Snow Goose I have seen in this area this year. A link to two images (one walking, one flying) is below.

Later, about 3/4 mile south of the Tall Chief Golf Course along West Snoqualmie River Road, I had a single PEREGRINE FALCON perched in a snag along the Snoqualmie River, probably feeding based on its movements. (Its back was toward me so I was unable to say with 100% certainty that it had a kill.)

The swan flock on NE 60th north of Carnation has apparently mostly moved elsewhere as a result of the recent snow, as there were only 4 Trumpeters (2 adult, 2 immature) present.

Several of the smaller bodies of water that usually hold ducks still were skinned over with ice, though the larger ones like Sykes Lake were all or mostly clear.
