Greetings Tweeters,
I spent a hour or so in the area along Goodrich Road in Lewis County this
morning. This is a great spot adjacent to the Chehalis River near the Lewis
Thurston County Line. The new (?) Chehalis Discovory Trail has great
potential, an offers foot access to areas that have previously been
inaccessible. It was on the quiet side today, but will be intersting to see
what the seasons bring here.

There was a PEREGRINE FALCON at the "falcon tree" (the douglas fir snag) at
the end of Wagner Road (accessed from Goodrich Rd). This is the same tree
that was often used by the Prairie Falcon last year and the Gyrfalcon a
couple of years ago. As a side note, I checked this spot out on air photos
(terra server) and this site is 97.x yards south of the Thurston County line
(Ok, 100 yards give or take). And raptors using this site hunt the fields
along the Chehalis River bottomlands in Lewis and Thurston County from this
location. I did not encounter any Swans this AM, and perhaps they have
moved on as my search of south Thurston County proved fruitless.

Also along Goodrich Road there was a Linclons Sparrow, though I did not
relocate the White-throated Sparrow that Dave Hayden turned up earlier.
Near the slough crossing on Goodrich Road there were 2 drake EURASIAN WIGEON
in a very large gathering of American Wigeon.
