Hello Barbara,

It isrealy to bad that birders went in to the field to see this Whooper Swan.We was there this moring, and there was around eight birders. We parked our car behind the Car what is up for sale ,but away from the driveway from the house. No one parked than illegally. There was Two birders from BC who returned from a long trip to BAJA California. There saw a Smew in California where there took photos off.The Whooper Swan was close to the road ,but we had Fog first and than looking in to the Sun later.Hopefull some of my photos turning out OK.

Cheers Ruth Sulivan

We found it this afternoon on the south side of Fir Island Road a bit east of the South Fork bridge. However, we noted two vehicles parked illegally?partially on the shoulder of the road and partially in the lane of traffic. Folks, please don't do anything dangerous when bird watching. We don't want to anger the local citizenry nor endanger anyone.

Another rant: one of the people illegally parked was standing out in the field, about 30 or 40 feet away from the Swans, taking photos. A telephoto lens is for taking photos from a distance . You were endangering the Swans. They had to fly away from you, using precious energy needed for their spring migration. Please use common sense and courtesy when bird watching.
