This is great. From CALBIRDS.

SMEW MUSINGS

I think that I may never view
a bird as lovely as a Smew,

a duck so rare, it won't be found
in half the field guides that abound

a-fishin' Hawkins Pond in Soulsbyville,
a fool's gold prospect in 'them thar hills';

whether captive loose, or wildly lost,
those flocks of birders count no cost

for ogling such a stunning sight
of Nature's sculpted black-on-white.

Why can't I write like that?
