Subject: [Tweeters] Turkey or Turkey Vulture in Tacoma ??

Hi Tweets,
My non-birdwatching sister told me that earlier this week she was
driving near Point Defiance in Tacoma with her business partner and
they both saw a very large dark bird with a bright red head walking
on the ground. They thought it was a wild turkey.

Hmmm, thought I... that couldn't be right, there are no turkeys in
Western WA. I was thinking maybe it was a Turkey Vulture, even though
they're considered rare sightings in February and not at all in
January. Has anyone heard of some similar-looking bird in Tacoma
recently? Maybe it was an escapee from the zoo? Thanks for your help
with this modest conundrum.

Happy Birding!
