Hello Tweets,

We have just updated our website with many,many new photos taken over the past 2 days from our visits to the outer coast. These photos include the adult female Wilson's Phalarope taken yesterday at Midway Beach Rd. it will be exciting to find out if both the male and female hatch young at this location,as we will follow up on these birds. Also photographed at this location yesterday were 2 of the 3 Snowy Plovers we located so that was a real treat,as always. We felt lucky to get the photos we did since this location is very limited as far as where you can walk around to look for birding. The area is well monitored by staff at Grayland Beach State Park,which do talk to people if they get to close to the posted areas or go into it too. We did notice several tire tracks leading into the posted nesting area,so it does still occur and not every negative action from people can be enforced. Since this upcoming week will be the 4th of July we expect huge crowds of people to visit the outer beaches between North Cove and Grayland Beach State Park. With these crowds we can only hope more enforcement will be in place. One good think is there also posted NO FIREWORKS on the post leading in to te nesting sites.Many of the people visiting the outer beaches do drive there and a few reckless drivers still get stuck in the sand or drive too fast,as we noticed yesterday. It is when people drive too fast the Snowy Plovers and other birds are most at risk for getting hit,as we also noticed.

Our other photographs taken over the past 2 days include several species further north in the Ocean Shores area,as well as including a portion of flock of Whimbrel at Bill's Spit, a nice,crisp adult Western Sandpiper at the Ocean Shores STP,a Green Heron at the Ocean Shores Marina and one of two nesting Olive-sided Flycatchers near Bill's Spit. In addition we obtained some nice photos of adult Heermann's Gulls from the Ocean Shores STP and the outer beaches north of Midway Beach Rd. too. Of course we didn't get photos of all the birds we wanted,but we did the best we could!
