This afternoon I finally found one of my nemesis birds for Grays Harbor county. A lone Purple Martin flew over me while I was out at the end of the Sandpiper trail at the Grays Harbor NWR in Hoquiam. There were about 400 Western Sandpipers on the mudflats at the refuge just before high tide today. I also heard a Black-bellied Plover, but never spotted it. Also, 5 Dowitchers were perched on the boardwalk of the Hoquiam STP. I heard flight calls and I believe they were all Long-billed Dowitchers.
