Hello Matt,

Yes, indeed the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher was not noted yesterday along
Knapp Rd.(west of Gardiner)in Clallam Co.,as checked by us and several
birders before 11am. Conditions were great, but it seemed the bird has moved
on.

We did want to mention a few sightings we had while birding at Three Crabs
during outgoing tide. Here, conditions were good as we first checked the
Three Crabs waterfront from the restaurant area. We encountered large
numbers of Western Sandpipers foraging along the small areas of shoreline.
We estimated 600-700 birds, but they scattered around as the shoreline became
more exposed. 20+ Black-bellied Plovers were noted along the furthest
stretches of mudflats,as well as a single Sanderling. 20 Short-billed
Dowitchers and 5 Greater Yellowlegs were also observed too. A small number
of Purple Martins called loudly,as well as flew around the nest boxes
immediately north of the Three Crabs Restaurant, where they most likely
breed. Several birders flew around ad landed on wires near the restaurant
area too.

Nearby, a check of the freshwater areas east of Helen's Pong produced a few
more shorebirds including small numbers of both Western and Least
Sandpipers. A flock of dowitchers also gather in areas viewable from the
main road, which appeared to all be Short-billed Dowitchers. A single
Cooper's Hawk was noted here too along with a Northern Harrier from the
Three Crabs Restaurant area. A check made from the Dungeness Oyster House
produced our large shorebirds for the day including a single LONG-BILLED
CURLEW, 4 pale Marbled Godwits and 15+ Whimbrel. Overall conditions at Three
Crabs were very windy compared to inland areas,as well as fog that formed
during our visit that limited visibility. Anyhow, that is our sightings
despite not seeing the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher.

Sincerely,

Ruth and Patrick Sullivan
