I had a singing CASSIN'S VIREO up Woods Rd just s. of Sequim July 5. In
recent years they have shown up in breeding season along lower and middle
Palo Alto Rd and at Graysmarsh nearby. Both 'ol Bob and Fred have good
notes on the species, and overall it seems uncommon to rare even in the best
areas around Sequim, where dry coniferous forest (especially Doug-Fir) or
mature mixed forest seems the preferred habitat. Seems to me it was a bit
more frequent here 25 years ago. Fall migration (late August-late Sept)
seems the best time to get birds in western areas of Clallam County.
