Last weekend I decided to travel over to Fort Simcoe, since it has been about two years since I was there last. I started over on Saturday evening stopping at Swamp Creek (I90-exit 62 to Stampede Pass) for an hour or so; then to Robinson Canyon for the rest of the evening. Sunday morning I arrived at Fort Simcoe bright and early (6:30 am) and spent 3 hours birding the area before it got to hot. No real rarities seen but some good fun birds that I always enjoy looking at. Highlights of the trip included:

COMMON POORWILL - a couple of very nice looks on Saturday evening at Robinson Canyon. One bird was sitting about 7 feet from my vehicle along side the gravel road four about 5 minutes.

ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER - Fort Simcoe

GRAY CATBIRD - Fort Simcoe

YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT - heard calling from a brushy area at Fort Simcoe

BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINGBIRD - Fort Simcoe

VAUX'S SWIFT - Swamp Creek

HERMIT THRUSH - heard at Swamp Creek area
