Terry,

My wife grew up in Kalispell so I've birded Glacier a bit, but not recently. I think there is but one old record of LeConte's Sparrow, in a meadow some distance by foot up the trail on the west side of the park. I tried to get in there once but was scared of by reports of Grizzlies. I think it may be all too easy to find bears.

I found my lifer White-tailed Ptarmigan by hiking up to the south from Logan Pass. Lots of good habitat all from the pass to where it gets too steep to hike. There can be Grizzlies up there also.

Subject: [Tweeters] questions about Glacier

Next week, my family and I are headed to Glacier Nat'l Park on vacation. I am looking for some help?

1) Is Logan Pass a reliable place to find White Tailed Ptarmigan or are there other (reasonably accessible) better places to see the Ptarmigan?

2) Is there are reliable place in Glacier to find LeConte's Sparrow?

3) What are the reliable places to find Grizzly Bears?

Thanks for your help.
