Hi Tweeters,

N of 212th on W Valley Highway there is a cell tower
across the street from the new Sleep Country
Warehouse. I thought I was going to be scoping a
beautiful red morph Red-tailed Hawk perched on the
tower but it morphed into a beautiful Red-shouldered
Hawk. It was in adult plumage, got to wonder if it is
the same individual seen around Kent Ponds this past
winter that molted into adult plumage. It had dark
eyes, but it looks like from the books this hawk does
not have the dramatic eye color change that most hawks
do, a bit lighter as juvenile and darker (redder?) as
adults. Any hawk expert jump in here with eye color
info... Just as I was going to attempt a digiscope it
flew to the NE. Just as well I have yet to get a
decent picture digiscoping anyway.

Best way to get to this area is from I-5, take Orillia
Road exit, head east down the hill, Orillia
turns into 212th and T's at West Valley Rd aka 68th
Ave S. The new Starbucks is on the north corner and
you can see the cell tower from there.

PS the 212th ponds are dry:-(
