It was baseball birds this weekend for us as part of the Marysville summer
team's Lynden tourney. Just as we were about to take off from Tiny's Land
in n. Lake Stevens early Saturday morn, I could hear a RED-EYED VIREO
singing steadily on the property at the edge of the yard. We've had them
several times in summer and especially in the first days of Sept, but I know
of no breeding in the immediate vicinity. Then at Bender Field in Lynden,
Whatcom County yesterday, 7/15, while enjoying Maysville's 2-0 and 6-3 wins
over Bothell and Puyallup respectively in the 11-yr old division, an E.
KINGBIRD stayed for over an hour atop a wide alder at the edge of field #3,
within ready view of the action there. Finally, four TURKEY VULTURES swung
low over I-5 en route Saturday, close to the Whatcom-Skagit county line,
close to the Bow Hill Rd exit.
