We frequent the Black River heron colony most weeks and lately more often to monitor the interaction with the eagles. We arrived Saturday about noon. One of the eagles was sitting in the tree near the eyrie. We set up the scope to see whether it was Bonnie or Clyde. These are the names given to them by a gentlemen who comes daily. Clyde has a band and how we id them unless they are sitting side by side.

Bonnie has been the most aggressive toward the heron eggs and chicks on our visits. We have only seen her carrying chicks back to her single eaglet that could fledge any time and the reason we like to know where she is.

This is what we saw when the eagle came into focus to our surprise and delight.
