Hi All,

Well, thanks both to Bud Anderson and Mike Denny (and I'm sure others who didn't send an e-mail) for correcting my ID of the falcon which captured the swallow (link to image posted yesterday). I had been watching Peregrine Falcons hunting and had never seen a Prarie Falcon on the Deschutes River before...and mis-ID'd it as a juvenile Peregrine. It is in fact a PRARIE FALCON that captured the swallow.

My apologies for the wrong ID. The link to the image is at http://www.tubbsphoto.com/-/tubbsphoto/detail.asp?photoID=4245928&cat=38975.

Interestingly, I saw a Prarie Falcon on the first day of driving home from the trip today - it was sitting on a utility pole in an unpopulated sage/juniper area between Maupin and Madras, Oregon on Highway 197. I stopped to try for a picture, but it was too wary.
