Hello All,

Our day began at the Walla Walla River delta where the water is very high
thanks to the demands for more power for the grid from McNary Dam and higher
water for boating and jet skiing folks on weekends. So thousands of
migrating shorebirds loose yet another high quality feeding and loafing site
because of us.
We then proceeded to the Tyson pond and came across Guy McWethy where we
all saw the following species:

Peregrine Falcon-1 ad. female hunting the pond area.
Burrowing Owls-2 sub-ad. birds to the north of the pond
Franklins Gull-1 sub-adult feeding on damselflies in the upper dry areas
north side of pond.
Red-necked Phalarope-9 birds
Wilsons Phalarope-1 bird
Am. Avocet-7 birds
Black-necked Stilts-12 birds
GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE-1ad. male at south edge of pond.
Barn Owl-1 ad. north of pond.

Prescott Area.........
Bank Swallows-300+ covered a teleline and driveway-all jammed into a very
tight area on the ground east of Prescott off Hart Rd.
Willow Flycatcher-1 calling off the Hart Rd. bridge over the Touchet River.

Eckler and Maloney Mountains, Columbia Co.
Mahloney Mtn.-School Fire site.
Clarks Nutcracker-10 birds flying east on Mahloney Mtn.
Pygmy Nuthatch-2 birds on Mahloney Mtn.-unexpected
Hairy Woodpecker-4 birds
BREWERS SPARROWS-7 birds on Eckler Mtn.
Grasshopper Sparrows-4 birds on Eckler Mtn.-photographed
BIG HUCKLEBERRIES-Hundreds seen, eaten and picked!

Later Mike
