Hi Tweeters,

The Kent Ponds Census Team all were able to get great
looks at the Red-shouldered Hawk this morning. The
hawk was back in the same general area it was noted
this past winter, presuming this is the same bird. It
perched out on the open at least twice on the unused
Osprey tower south of the King County Animal Shelter.
What a lovely bird and if it sticks around it will be
interesting to see if it becomes even redder or if it
is done molting for this year. The shoulders are not
red yet, but the breast is red and the wing and tail
pattern are very distinctive.

To get to the area follow the directions below to the
shelter and the area is just south of the shelter and
wraps around behind the shelter. Best views of the
osprey tower is from businesses across the road from
the Kent Ponds area.
