Subject: [Tweeters] Skykomish Night Bird?

I spent a month in Skykomish last night (ba da bing!) which is on Hwy 2 east of Monroe, Sultan, and Gold Bar. From about 3-4:30 a.m., I was driving slowly back and forth along the railroad tracks--only about a two block area--trying to soothe my squalling baby daughter and to my amazement kept hearing some birds calling. They seemed attracted to the lights around the railyard but would eventually fly off, still calling, if I stopped the car. My best description is that they sounded swallow- or swift-like, and there seemed to be more than one. Our hotel was on the Skykomish River, and I also heard them apparently flying over the river in the night. Any ideas?
