Hi Tweeters,

I just updated some new photos from my NE Washington trip which includes the
following areas: Salmo Pass (near Metaline Falls, WA), Sherman Pass (near
Kettle Falls, WA), and Togo Mt (near Orient, WA). These areas can be
excellent for boreal birds but at the same time, dont expect too much as
boreal birding can be slow and requires much effort and hiking.

Highlight of the trip included all four species of chickadee in one
location, spruce grouse, great gray owl, pine grosbeaks, and white winged
crossbills.

Be alert for white winged crossbills this season as several have already
been reported in OR, WA, and Idaho this month. I had several small flocks
at two direction locations during this WA trip. There were great numbers in
several locations during my Northern BC trip. Hopefully, more will trickle
down south. I also noted large number of red crossbills in many locations so
maybe it is a good, cone year.

Mammals seen: pine marten, black bear, moose and calf, and caribou (rare).
