Congratulation to you going for the Bar-tailed Godwit in Tokeland,also that you had better looks than we had being on the Jetty tucked in.As I was watching the Martins on the Marina,Patrick disappeared for a while,but coming back he told me that he had a Bar-tailed Godwit! As we both looked this bird was so hidden between vegetation and other birds that we waited least 45 minutes as all birds start flying up,for no reason.Patrick and I saw the white rump in flight. All the birds settled down on the jetty,and the Bar-tailed Godwit was in the open on a rock where we saw all the field marks even so the bill was mostly tucked in.We had many sighting of Bar-tailed ,but this is kind of special since it is an early date there for it is an adult .The Juvenile will coming later in around the middle of August where most others we found came. And thank you for the update of the Martins on the Marina,we going to keep an eye on this birds if there going to use the houses for there young.

This morning I headed for Tokeland with hopes of finding the Bar-tailed Godwit that the Sullivans spotted a few days back. I arrived at the marina at about 8:00am and proceeded to the boat launch dock to scope some godwits that were at the east end of the marina. Luckily, the Bar-tailed Godwit was very active feeding along with several Marbled Godwits. I noted the silvery-streaked back, pinkish to black bill, and the bright white supercillium above the eye. Also, it was a bit smaller than the larger Marbled Godwits around. I took some photos and will see how they came out later. The Bar-tailed is a life bird that I have been patiently waiting for.

Also, several Purple Martins were in the marina area. I noticed at least one entering of one the nest boxes that the Sullivans put up. Other shorebirds in the marina included: Willet, Greater Yellowlegs, Short-billed Dowitcher, Western and Least Sandpipers.
