Hello Tweets,

We have just updated our website with many excellent photos of just a few of the Red-necked Phalaropes photographed yesterday at Midway Beach Rd. The birds were very active,as they swirled around in typical phalarope fashion so it was hard to get the best photo. A few of the birds were very close,so we were pleased to get some nice photos! The birds were only in the flooded areas north of the end of the road,so perhaps that location offered the best feeding. All the birds appeared to be molting adults transitioning into non-breeding plumage, which is typical during the fall migration. A few of the birds were much drabber and showed less color than other birds, but we obtained photos of the brightest birds.

The Red-necked Phalarope photos can be viewed at the following link: http://www.pbase.com/godwit/red-necked_phalarope_photos/

In addition we have placed 3 more photos from the Purple Martins at the Tokeland Marina onto our website, which can be viewed at the following link: http://www.pbase.com/godwit/purple_martin_photos/

Sincerely,

Ruth and Patrick Sullivan
