Hello All,

I have been subscribed to this list for several months now and have enjoyed
reading what is being seen in your state. My family and I will be flying to
Washington for a 16 day trip next week, and I am looking for help with some
target species I would like to see.

I have already scoured through A Birder's Guide To Washington by Hal
Opperman, but know that first hand knowledge from locals is always the best
information. I will list the species followed by the areas I will be
visiting.

Western Screech-Owl
Mountain Quail
Calliope Hummingbird
Townsend's Warbler
MacGillvary's Warbler
White-tailed Ptarmigan
Gray-crowned Rosy-Finch - any chance without hiking all day?

Here is a list of where we will be traveling:

Columbia River Gorge
Mount Saint Helens
Mount Rainier (unfortunately, Sunrise Ridge is out of the way for us due to
road closures)
Westport - taking the Saturday August 11th Pelagic Trip - anyone else going?
Forks Area
Port Angeles
Vancouver, BC (Planning on driving to Mount Baker area and hiking Ptarmigan
Ridge area)
Seattle

Thank you so much for any help you can give me. My wife and two daughters
(ages 7 and 9) will be with me. We have read many books on places to go for
waterfalls, beaches, etc., but if anyone knows of some little-known gems of
places to visit with kids, I would also appreciate hearing about them.
