Hi Tweets,

I've been keeping my eye on some high, burrow-like holes in the cliff
beside my apartment building, and yesterday evening my suspicions were
confirmed as I watched a Belted Kingfisher emerge. There are several
burrows in these cliffs, though I don't know how many are active. They
aren't technically waterside (as I'd always imagined Kingfisher
burrows to be)--my apartment complex is just west of 405, and the
cliffs mark where the stretch of forest stops and the "civilization"
of our complex begins. We are across the street from Lake Washington
(Coulon Park), so there's great local fishing for the birds. If you're
interested in checking them out, let me know and I'll provide more
info.

Best,
Susan Littlefield
