My wife and I read about Ridgefield National Wildlife
Refuge and thought it might be worth the 3 hour drive
from Vaughn Bay. We weren't disappointed. We had 4
lifers - Sora, Yellow-headed Blackbird, Redhead and
Gadwall.

Also saw Pied-billed Grebe, Great Blue Heron, Canada
Goose, Wood Duck, Mallard, Cinnamon Teal, Lesser
Scaup, Ruddy Duck, Osprey, Red-tailed Hawk, American
Kestrel, Western Scrub Jay, American Crow, Tree
Swallow, Barn Swallow, Bewick's Wren, American Robin,
Cedar Waxwing, Common Yellowthroat, Spotted Towhee,
Song Sparrow, Savannah Sparrow, Black-headed Grosbeak,
Red-winged Blackbird, Brewer's Blackbird, American
Goldfinch, House Finch

The Ruddy Duck was in beautiful breeding color. Baby
Pied-billed Grebes were cute, but the baby American
Coots were my wife's favorite. We heard a lot of birds
we couldn't ID because we are not experienced at IDing
many birds by sound. Also met a fellow tweeter at the
Photo Blind where we photographed the Sora and Coots
and digiscoped some of the ducks further out.
