And coyotes are not the only pet predator in the area. About two hours ago
(1:15 in the afternoon) a bobcat hopped up onto our deck in Preston and was
scoping out our bird feeders. This character was about 5 feet from where I
stood by a sliding door. Quite a sight. His or her shoulder was as tall as
my (smallish) German Shepard.

Cats and small dogs are not safe outside, unsupervised at any time of day.

Nina wrote about the coyotes and missing cats in her area. In a study done
in King County it was estimated that more than 40% of the annual diet of
Coyotes in suburban King County was house cat. It was also estimated that
70% of the diet of pups involved house pets, so during pupping season (which
is now) Coyotes specialize in house pets.

Another good reason to keep them indoors at night.
