Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday June 7. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On June 2 a REDSTART was on the Bayocean Spit at Tillamook Bay. A
ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was seen June 1 near Tillamook. Another was at
Seaside June 6. On June 6 a GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE was near Central Point in
the Rogue Valley. A BROWN THRASHER was at Fields June 1. That day a male
COMMON GOLDEN-EYE was at Roaring Springs Ranch. Malheur NWR was rather slow
during the week, but two GLOSSY IBISES, A CAPE MAY WARBLER, a HOODED
WARBLER, and a couple of BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLERS were seen.

A very heavy concentration at the Columbia River mouth May 31 included
thousands of SOOTY SHEARWATERS, flocks of RED-NECKED PHALAROPES, some BROWN
PELICANS, some HEERMANN?S GULLS, a PARASITIC JAEGER, a POMARINE JAEGER, and
a FRANKLIN?S GULL.

At Cascade Head north of Lincoln City June 2 were two BLACK SWIFTS, a
WESTERN KINGBIRD, and a NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH. On June 3 a CHAT was on Sauvie
Island. A HORNED GREBE was at Smith/Bybee Lakes in North Portland June 4. On
June 2 two BLACK SWIFTS were flying over Larch Mountain above the Columbia
River Gorge. On June 3 a CLARK?S GREBE was at Ankeny NWR. On June 4 a
singing GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was near the Prairie Overlook in Finley NWR. An
adult PRAIRIE FALCON was in Eugene June 2. RED-EYED VIREOS were back at
Bristow State Park June 3. That day a CATBIRD was at Toketee Falls in the
Cascades east of Roseburg.

On June 3 three COMMON GOLDENEYES were at Summer Lake. On May 31 a YELLOW
RAIL was calling behind the Historical monument near Ft. Klamath. They are
also being heard at Klamath Forest NWR.
