Hi Tweeters,

Here is something else to worry about. The Seattle PI had an article about lead leaching from garden hoses. The article warns that unless the hose is labeled "Safe for Drinking" or something similar, it is not a good idea to drink from it or fill your bird bath with it either.

Lead is used as a stabilizer in many garden hoses and significant amounts of it can leach out into the water. Small amounts can lead to brain damage, anemia, and other health problems.
