Kathy A's post about the kestral reminded me to report my Sunday sightings while driving back from Eugene,OR to Seattle. Just north of Kalama, first saw a female kestral hovering about 10 feet above the median (high grassy area), and about 100 feet further north (if I had been standing still, instead of going 70 mph I could have seen them both at the same time) the smaller male was hovering about 15 feet above the median. How do they do that anyway?

Also, for Diane, at the signs for Brownsville,OR, there were 2 turkey vultures both Sat and Sunday (as I was going to Eugene and coming back). Just before Colberg, there was a turkey vulture rising out of one of the fields with sheep in one of the heavy squalls--big strong wing beats.
