Hi Tweeters,

I used to lurk on OBOL, Oregon Birders On Line. Just
the other day I ran into a great post that I printed
out and kept from OBOL. It was about fledgling
Violet-green Swallows. The poster observed that once
they flew out they wanted back in! It sounded like he
had great fun watching the fledglings try to squeeze
back in around the other young birds at the hole. I
don't know how successful they were at unfledging.

I have witnessed Purple Martins that have fledged
return to the gourds in the evening. Great Blue
Herons also return to the nest post fledging. So it
must depend on the species.
