Subject: [Tweeters] Western Tanagers

At the end of a nasty day at work, I relaxed by taking
a walk through our property. It was dark back there (5
acres of untouched forest) and I saw red. Literally! I
quickly swung my camera towards the red and took a
picture. It may be grainy, it may be dark, but it is
my very first Western Tanager!! Whooo hoooo! He flew
out of sight, and seconds later a female flew into
view, eating the berries on one of the shrubs. Here

I know now that I've been seeing the female around for
about a week, but thought she was a female goldfinch!
Silly me. :)
