Hi--

On Penny Rose's fabulous Urban Nest Tour out of Discovery Park this
morning, we noticed at least 60 Glaucus-Winged Gull nests on the huge
construction site at 15th W. opposite the Brown Bear Car Wash at 1800
15th Ave. W., north of downtown Seattle. Everywhere you look across this
massive expanse of bare dirt you see gulls on nests on the ground,
gathering nesting material, mating, and just hanging out. Go take a
look--two people on the tour said it reminded them of the mass nesting
sites they had seen on the Galapagos Islands. It would be good if
construction could be delayed until the chicks are hatched.
