Today at about 1:45 PM I saw a BALTIMORE ORIOLE in
Discovery Park, Seattle. I think it was an adult
female. It was at the top of a small tree in the
south meadow area, west of the paved area with the row
of plane trees (sycamores). At first I was surprised
to see what I thought was a Bullock's Oriole, because
I thought it was out of habitat, and when it moved to
the top of the tree I got a very clear look at the
head and body. The entire head was black, except for
perhaps a touch of orange above the eye. It flew away
towards the plane trees. I did not get a good look at
the tail, but I got the impression it was mostly
black.
