This is NOT a Pine Grosbeak which can be eliminate based on the
head to beak ratio. Pine Grosbeaks barely qualify as "gros" beaks
to begin with and this photo shows a substantial beak of the wrong
propartions.

The relatively straight looking culmen also calls the House Finch
ID into question, though the coloring is more typical of House
Finches than other Carpodacus finches. Nevertheless, I think this
is a chromatically challenged PURPLE FINCH. Several "unpurple"
Purple Finches have been reported this season. I frame no hypothesis
as to why.
