>From my first look at the picture and then confirming it with my husband it is a fledgling female black headed grosbeak. We have been watching this species for the last 6 years feeding at our feeders in all stages of plumage. As far as I am able to determine through all of my bird books there isn't a ID of this phase of coloring or timing of age available.
