Hi Barb,
Very good to hear the news. The Kunde Road Bluebirds in Snohomish
County are now on another clutch of eggs, after successfully
fledging young earlier this year, well, we are assuming it is the
same pair, using the same nestbox, although neither of the birds
are banded.

The San Juan Islands Western Bluebird Reintroduction Project
confirmed three
juvenile birds with their parents in the Bailer Hill area on San Juan
Island
yesterday. Neil Zimmerman and I found the young birds being fed by
both parents
in the short grasses. These are the first young WEBL sighted in the
islands
since the mid-1960s. Eight pair of birds were translocated from Ft.
Lewis, WA.,
this March to San Juan Island. Local islanders built small aviaries
to hold the
birds before release and boxes for nesting. Upon release three of the
pair were
found to have returned to Ft. Lewis. There are still four pair that
could be on
San Juan, Lopez, Orcas or even in one of the nearby counties. Each
adult has a
variety of color coded bands on their legs. Please let us know if see
them.
Many people have built boxes for us and donated money. Feel free to
build us a
box, or donate wood or funds. Partners in this five year project are:
