Hello All,

On Saturday, June 16, Mike Donahue, Joshua LeClerc, and I hiked up
Robinson Canyon. The most unusual bird was a female American Redstart
about a quarter of a mile below the first steam crossing. It was very
actively feeding, difficult to follow and will likely be difficult to
relocate- but if you are in the area it might be worth keeping a eye out
for it.

Most of the regulars were encountered with fine looks at Bullock's
Oriole, Black-headed Grosbeak, MacGillivray's Warbler, Pacific
Slope-Flycatcher, Red-naled Sapsucker, Western Tanager, Cassin's Vireo,
and Lazuli Bunting. Other birds of note include 2 vocal Gray Catbirds
(lower canyon), 1 Yellow-breasted Chat (lower canyon), 1 male Rufous
Hummingbird (near Redstart site), 3 Calliope Hummingbirds, 1 male Red
Crossbill, 1 Golden Eagle, and several good sized groups of Common
Nighthawks.

Loads of butterflies, several Racers, and 2 Western Rattlesnakes were
some of the non-feathered creatures seen. As always Robinson Canyon is a
really great place to visit in late spring and early summer.

Good birding, Alan
