It was only recommended that you temporarily cease feeding birds although if
you chose to continue feeding then to increase the frequency you cleaned
your feeders. It should be common practice to clean the feeders and there
are a lot of people who do not that contribute to this disease; you should
also make sure the feeders are not cracked etc. to allow moisture in. Every
now and then this makes the news and WDFW puts out a warning regarding this
problem.
