I was flyfishing for rainbow trout at a lake in central B.C. recently. We
had very good fishing in marginal weather. I kept track of the birds while
there and the list is shown below. Eliguk L. is 45 air-miles north of Nimpo
L.

Surf Scoter - 1 lone male there every day cruising th shore and sometimes
followed by 10-12' by the female Common Merganser.

PHEASANTS, GROUSE, QUAIL AND TURKEYS
Ruffed Grouse - heard booming in the woods

Sora - heard in the marshy inlet area

Sandhill Crane - a pair apparently nesting in the area as they were heard
every day and seen flying over.

Wilson's Snipe - heard their winnowing call every day
Greater Yellowlegs - nesting in the inlet and seen perching on top of
spruce trees
Solitary Sandpiper - also nesting in area and seen perched in tops of trees
