Many of you have requested that I report back on my search for an electronic
bird list. Here is a brief summary of what I have found:

1. www.Ebird.org. -simple to use, not very flexible, complete bird
list, contributes to the overall science, free, limited input and output.
Maintained by Cornell Ornithology Lab.

2. www.Avisys.com. -simple to use, very powerful, very complete list
for the whole world, published by a former Seattle based birder, $100. Good
input and output capabilities. Won't input MSExcel data without some data
manipulation. Used a lot by accomplished birders.

3. http://www.aou.org/checklist/index.php3. The most complete bird list
for North America. Published by AOU. (Search for the word "Excel" on the
page. It's in the third paragraph.)

4. http://www.westerngrebe.com/AOU/. Compiled by fellow tweeter,
Scott Carpenter.



I have also received individual list from others and would love to forward
them on to you if you would like.
