Spotted this guy at Twanoh State Park in Belfair today
and don't know what he is. His bill looks like a
crossbill to me:

Two GBH questions:
1. I spent a lot of time watching a Great Blue Heron
today as it fed along the sand bar. I saw it eat fish,
but I also saw it eat a long piece of greenery and my
Audubon book mentions nothing about them eating
vegetation. Is this common?
2. "My" Great Blue Heron today has a lot of brown on
him. I thought they were mostly gray, and, again,
Audubon fails to mention anything about it. Pictures:

Thanks, in advance for answering my newbie questions!
:) Wasn't it a gorgeous day, today? Wheee!
