My new motto will be ? Measure twice, e-mail once?! The bird we thought
might be a Sabine?s was actually larger than I thought and fits into the
smallish range of Black-legged Kittiwake. Using Harrison, we determined the
primaries matched those of a kittiwake and not Sabine?s. I?m not sure how we
came to out first conclusion but thought I?d better get the facts out on
Tweeters. My apologies for not getting the id straight the 1st time. We?re
hoping to have photos soon.
Anyone ever see or hear of a Black-legged Kittiwake with a bi-colored
bill?
