Hello All:
Today I started birding at Marymoor Park, joining Michael Hobbs and a small
group of others. Highlight of the walk was my first singing Orange-crowned
Warbler of the year. A few minutes after Michael had to leave, we found an
adult Glaucous Gull in the soccer field near Lot B (which is closed). I
managed to take one photo of it before it flew off, disappearing to the
south.
Spent the afternoon in the Kent Valley. The Green Heron flew out from its
usual haunt at Boeing Ponds. At Kent Ponds I had an imm Northern Shrike, an
Anna's Hummingbird, 3 Northern Harriers (1 adult male), and lots of
swallows. Continuing south, there were 12 Trumpeter Swans and several
hundred Cackling Geese (predominantly Taverner's) in the fields at the south
end of Frager Road. At 285th Street was a pure Eurasian (Green-winged) Teal.
That's about all!
Cheers,
Charlie Wright
