Hi all -
Together with a group of fearless county point-people, I've been
trying to track county year lists for every county in Washington this
year. With 2 months of the year done, I wanted to post an update on
our progress.

The idea behind this project is to step away from individual year
lists and see what it would look like to track 'combined' year lists.
These county year lists are collaborative efforts, with each tally
representing the collective sightings for a county rather than any
one individual's list.

We've got designated compilers for every one of the 39 counties in
the state. At the end of every month, I collect their lists and put
them together into a single file. While several compilers are keeping
track of more data beyond just the list, all I'm including in the
big file is a simple checklist.

Soon, we'll have the results posted on the web, but for now if you'd
like to have a copy of the excel file with results thus far, just
drop me an email.

As of the end of February (with 31 counties recently reported in)
we've noted 241 species in the State, 182 of those seen in Eastern
WA, and 217 seen in Western WA.
