This late afternoon, my family and I stopped to view the large flock of swans and geese near the intersection of Keys Rd. and Wenzel Slough Rd.. The swans were more widespread today with the main concentration closer to the sharp corner on Wenzel Slough Rd. as you are heading east from Keys Rd.. The "Bewick's" Swan was a tough find, but I finally found it in the middle of the flock. Tundra and Trumpeters seemed to be more mixed together today versus Saturday morning when they were segregrated. Large numbers of Canada and Cackling Geese were present as well. I didn't have a scope or the time to look for the Greater White-fronted.

At Friend's Landing (just outside of Montesano) on the lake, there were the following species:

Greater Scaup 10
Western Grebe 1
Double-crested Comorant 40
Great Blue Heron 1

We also walked right into two Killdeer that we being awfully quiet amidst the camping spaces there. One Killdeer performed the "broken wing" trick while we were walking by.

Good birding,
