Jeff and Tweeters,

If you can't make it to the foothills right away to hear a dipper sing, you might listen to BirdNote for Feb. 27, archived at BirdNote.org.

Good listening, Bob

The recent dipper note reminded me that this is the time for dipper song! Most birdwatcher's probably don't think much about 'birding' in the foothills this time of year, due to weather (cold rain ) or lack of diversity, but now is the time dippers sing.

Their song is truly wonderful - reminiscent of a bewicks wren in phrasing, with a winter wrens endurance, and with a dippers volume - loud. Loud enough to carry over the rushing water with plenty left over.

So if you're in the right neighborhood, listen for the dipper.
