The first 2007 season sighting of Band-tailed Pigeons at our Black Oil Sunflower feeder occured this morning around 10:45 AM. This is the earliest sighting we have had here sinc ewe moved in in 1998. Must be global warming. It was around 63 at the time they showed up. It is now 72. These temps are taken on a thermometer that is in the sun. It also looks like the Wood Ducks are activily laying eggs in the boxes around our pond, but not sitting on them. Active mating on the pond and pairs have selected and are defending their boxes when they are in/or near them. Will try to get my husband to look and see if this is really happening. Good birding to all this coming summer season.
