First one I've ever seen there. I'd stopped by the park with the notion of looking for the flock of Band-tailed Pigeons that hangs out in the Madrona trees at the southern edge of the park on the little bluff above the lower parking lot. No pigeons today, but there was a great show nonetheless: a pair of Brown Creepers chasing each other around the tree trunks, barely missing a Red-breasted Nuthatch; two Downy Woodpeckers; a couple of Bewicks Wrens singing back and forth at one another. There were Song Sparrows, Juncos, Kinglets, Flickers, Robins,and this one beautiful Western Meadowlark posed at the edge of the clearing. I had about a minute before it flushed and just disappeared. I stayed for another half but it didn't reappear. The rest of the show, however, continued.
